Keyword Analysis: When we do a keyword search analysis we use Google’s Keyword Tool to estimate the number of times people search for a particular keyword. This number only represents people searching on Google’s Network, which includes, (aboutus.com, Lycos, nytimes.com, infospace.com, howstuffworks.com, business.com and HGTV.com). It is estimated that 80% of search results come through Google’s Network. (Total search volume does not include search results from Yahoo, MSN or other search engines). Important note: With any successful SEO campaign your website will also appear on other search engines. But our main focus is Google, Yahoo and MSN, which is now Bing. When calculating the number of search results per month we only use Google’s Network, which is a conservative number.

Estimating Number of Visitors: Once your website is ranked for the majority of keywords we estimate 3% of traffic will visit your website on a monthly basis. Statistics for this calculation have been steady over the years with many studies and surveys being conducted. Once a website achieves high rankings for targeted keywords the industry standard is 2% to 7%. We are using the lower percentage to calculate number of visitors to a site.

Estimating Number of Leads: Once we understand the number of visitors to a particular website, the next step is to turn these visitors into leads. The number of visitors that reach out to you via email, contact form or phone will depend on how well your website is designed and the type of call to action you use to get prospect to request more information.

Based on our knowledge, experience and talking with our clients we can accurately calculate this ratio. A well-designed website that is consumer friendly with quality content, we estimate this ratio to be around 5%. Here again there have been many studies and surveys conducted to estimate this number. Industry standards are 2% to 10%. We are using 5% as our number when calculating number of leads. Important note: We work with our clients to make sure their websites are a great resource. We can offer suggestions and advice based on years of experience. We also provide a web design for our clients and we can provide you a quote for this service.

Close Ratio: This is the all important number because the higher this ratio the more homes sale you will close. Obviously, this ratio is a difficult one to nail down and varies greatly depending on how aggressive your company is in following up with the leads generated from your website. Close ratios vary from 2% to 10% on average. The type of products you offer, the size of your footprint in a particular market and the level of professionalize will ultimately determine this ratio. Based on our experience with working with clients in the housing industry we estimate this ratio to be around 2%.
